Describing "The Color of Water" Narrator and Uncle Blog #2

     My favorite character in "The Color of Water" is James McBride/ the narrator because of all the things he is willing to do out of love for his mother. In earlier chapters, he has found ways to connect with his mother like in chapter 2 when he freak-out about his mother being gone (Explained more in Personal Connections "The Color of Water" #1) . Also, in chapter 4 after asking his older brother ,Richie if he was adopted Richie tricks him into thinking he was the only one in the family adopted and that his "real mother" was in jail coming back to get James. After hearing this he tells his older brother that he would run away first but his brother tells him that his mom would get into trouble if he processes to do so. After he panics, he gets to talk to his mom about her being his real mother and her past life with her family in Poland/America. She changes the subject (because of later explained events she doesn't want to talk about) by offering coffee cake. As you read the book, it shows that he is a sweet, defensive, caring, curious mama's boy that you can't do but love.
   I would love to do a character description on my father's brother/ Uncle. My uncle is a hardworking man who knows many people but is insane. He thinks things normal people don't process yet. He works long days as a chef and takes care of the kids he has to watch over and has fun with them. He is funny, tells old story of them before they came to America, and protects those he cares for. I just love him because he is always there when you need him, he won't go down without a fight and defends you like his own at all cost (if he tolerates you).
