into thin air blog 3

One of the quote (an entire paragraph), i liked from the book was when Andy Harris, a guide, was close to death. "Two hundred feet below, I could just make out Andys motionless form slumped at the foot of the incline. I was sure he'd broken at least a leg, maybe his neck. But then, incredibly, he stood up, waved that he was O.K., and started lurching towards camp four" (Krakauer). I really liked this quote because at first it brought fear and then a sense of relief. As I was reading it i had to stop half way and try to process what was going on. As a contined reading i began to calm down because he was O.K. It's well written because it created a sense of imagery. Krakauer makes it more suspensful by adding the part when he said that all he could do is make out the image of his slumped body 200 ft below. At first he was sure that Andy had broken a body part and that it was a fall from 200 feet. He uses the word 'incredibly' as if it was a miracle that Andy had came oout afe from his fall.                                                                      Imagine that you are standing on this mountain with Andy. He starts walking towards you looking very sick.   You didnt go down the steep because it was dangerous and no ropes to help you. Andy starts talking to you about how he needs to get down immediately and in the middle of his sentence he falls down the mountain. Your first thought is that you have watched him die in front of you and could not do anything about it. As you looked down, to what seems to be his dead body,  he all of a sudden gets up, tells you he is ok and starts limping to camp four where shelter is available.
