Into thin Air blog post #2

My favorite character so far is Rob Hall because he earned and gave respect, and he also helped others even if its his rival, Fisher. "Hall proved to be a skillfull raconteur with a caustic Kiwi wit...an accomplished climber and guide...he was a fast learner.. and had the ability to soak up  skills and attitudes from anybody"(Krakauer). Krakauer creates great characterization by giving a lot of descriptive details about Hall's early stages of mountain climbing, and he also made me as a reader like him because Krakauer tells how Hall  has accomplished many goals and how he is still going to take his last group of clients to the summit of Mount Everest, but little did he know that they wouldny make it. He also creates good characterization by telling us how his personality can differ from time to time but he still includes them because its part of the process. He also states many quotes that other characters have said about him. I think that in my life a good preson to write a description about woud be my sister, Sofia, because she has so many different peronalities, and moods depending upon where she is. Sofia is nice, most of the time, but  she can also be eager to learn many things. She was once curious of how gymnasts do all the splits and handstands, and eager by nature she wanted to try them herself. Now she has accomplished that goal. But careful her evil side can just pop out at anytime like tha jack-in-the-box.Whenever you need to describe a person or pet I think that descriptive language is the best because you can describe something in a few words but you still can get the big focus point.

  1. Why do you think the author likes Rob Hall so much? Is it because he wants you get a connection with him so that when he dies we feel what he felt. I love how you described how your sister's evil side pops out like a jack-in-the-box.

  2. Hey Lauren! I love the idea of writing about your sister and describing her shifting moods. How might you write about her and her physical traits in a way that shows what she is like? Is there anything about how she looks, how she dresses, her body language, or how she talks that might suggest that her moods change at all the time?
